Biography

Dr. Casas de Leon grew up in Laredo, TX. Her parents, originally from Monterrey, Mexico, inspired her to pursue a career in medicine from an early age. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at Rice University in Houston, TX. At that time, she was elected to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She went on to earn her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.

Dr. Casas de Leon completed her Ophthalmology training at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX – one of the premier Ophthalmology Departments in the United States, especially known for its high clinical and surgical volume. She then pursued a year of subspecialty training in the field of corneal diseases and treatments at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Casas de Leon is excited to join Eye Physicians of Virginia. She will provide comprehensive ophthalmology care including cataract treatment, diabetic eye exams, and specialized evaluation and treatment of corneal disease. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Casas enjoys cooking, painting, exercise and historical documentaries.
